Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a guaranteed base salary, or is this commission-only?
You’ll start with a $100,000 base salary that is offset by commissions earned, with uncapped commission and bonus opportunities on top.
Do I need solar experience to apply?
No. Solar experience is a plus, but it’s not required. We’re looking for people with a track record in commission-based, consultative sales, whether that’s agriculture, construction, equipment, insurance, banking, or another field. We’ll train you on solar.
Is this door-to-door residential sales?
No. Cold calling and prospecting local businesses and farms is part of the job; that’s one way you’ll open new doors and build your pipeline. But it’s not the only source of leads: referrals, networking, trade shows, and marketing-generated leads all play a part too. And once you’re in the conversation, it’s about building trust, not pushing a pitch. You’re there to act as a consultant to guide them to the best decision, whether that’s solar or not.
What kind of training and support will I get?
You’ll go through a thorough onboarding process, plus ongoing training and development, from on-the-job coaching to virtual training sessions and company-wide in-person sales meetings. You’re also backed by a proven marketing team, experienced estimators, and a dedicated installation team, so you’re never working alone.
What's my territory, and how much travel is involved?
You’ll be based out of our Harrisonburg, VA branch, but your territory covers businesses and farms across the Commonwealth. Some days will mean several hours of windshield time, and others will keep you close to home. Either way, you’re covered in a company-provided vehicle.
